Shipping container scams have been rife in 2024, it’s almost impossible for us to keep up. There’s been so many since our last alert October 2023 we felt it high time to provide an update.
As buyers you really need to put on your detective hats. Container fraud can be difficult to spot and there isn’t just one type. There also doesn’t seem to be any government site for you as the consumer to go to. Whilst there are a few resources around, much of the information is scattered and it’s difficult to find anywhere that updates their information. After doing a bit of research we’ve found what we think are the best resources for potential buyers to undertake some checks.

Artists Against 419 – also known as AA419
This site, in our opinion, is by far, the very best for trying to locate a current list of shipping container scams or any other online scam for that matter. AA419 is an international community group of individuals who are dedicated to fighting online fraud. According to their website, their goal is to educate the public about how dangerous it can be to trust a company just because they have a nice website. Every site reported to them is investigated, and if proven false, will be added to their database, and reported to the current Website host and other official bodies.
The Fake Sites List of shipping container scams is continually updated, and we believe it is one of the best resources around. It provides the domain and site name, any spoofed ABN, together with the address, email and phone numbers the scammers are using.
What’s also good is that members of the public are free to lodge reports. How refreshing to know there are some humans out there who care enough to volunteer their time tackling this never-ending epidemic to alert you, saving your hard-earned dollars. A lot more than what our paid government officials are doing we say!
